Opening Message from Principal

Welcome to Castlebay Lane Charter Elementary School. As your new principal, I am honored to be able to serve our children and community.

All of us here at Castlebay are excited to have students back in our classrooms eager and ready to learn. Our mission at Castlebay is to educate, challenge, and inspire our students to reach their full potential. This is accomplished through our unique community based partnership, designed to build a unified school culture of academic rigor and creativity through STEAM, personal empowerment, resilience, empathy, and compassion.

All our teachers and staff reflect this mission in our daily actions, so that every child can grow in their academic abilities and feel connected and supported every day. Our dedicated teachers plan and create engaging classroom activities that stimulate and challenge our students.

Research-based classroom practices are evident in every classroom and academic data is analyzed to determine student needs and inform future instruction. This ensures that all students at Castlebay receive the foundational skills necessary for academic and social-emotional success. New leadership offers us many opportunities for fresh beginnings, but newness alone is not enough. We have to be willing to take action, to step forward in the knowledge that our behavior can bring about change.

With this in mind, I'm stepping forward with a pledge to all Castlebay students and stakeholders, so that my actions may model and clearly reflect my intent to serve our children and community.

Principals Pledge:

1. I promise to do my best every day and to make decisions that are in the best interest of all the students at Castlebay Elementary.

2. I promise to believe in you and your unlimited potential to learn and to work to ensure your success.

3. I promise that I wont give up on you, your family, or any member of the Castlebay community.

4. I promise that I will work to support and inspire my colleagues so that they can reach their highest self and bring that self into the classroom and campus.

5. I promise to grow my own practice each day, and to be open and reflective to all feedback no matter how uncomfortable. I promise never to stop learning.

6. I promise to help teachers develop engaging and rigorous instruction that is differentiated for different kinds of learners so that all children may learn and feel successful in school.

7. I promise to spend time getting to know all of you and to encourage diversity and freedom of choice with respect.

8. I promise to be kind, to listen with my heart, and to radiate happiness and peace everyday, no matter what happens, as I am the master of my circumstances and not its victim.

9. Finally, I promise to laugh with all of you and to find joy in all the days we share together, so as not to waste the gift of community we’ve been offered.
